Identifying Factors Affecting the Prosperity of Small and Medium Sports Businesses in Iran

Abstract

The importance of small and medium businesses as a tool for economic growth has been identified in many developed countries. Examining and identifying factors affecting the prosperity of small and medium sports businesses can contribute greatly to the scientific richness of the field of sports economics and marketing and sports management. Therefore, the aim of the current research was to identify the factors affecting the prosperity of small and medium sports businesses. The current research method is qualitative and exploratory research, and in terms of its purpose, it is considered as part of applied research. The participants in this research included faculty members in the field of sports management, faculty members in the field of marketing, and managers and expert sports experts, and the purposeful sampling method was used in the research. To collect information, in-depth and semi-structured interviews were conducted with the participants and theoretical saturation was achieved with 25 interviews. To analyze the data, thematic analysis method was used to obtain the information of this research. The results of the research show that the factors affecting the prosperity of small and medium sports businesses consist of four main categories, which include legal factors, socio-cultural factors, managerial factors, and technological factors. Finally, according to the results and factors affecting the prosperity of small and medium sports businesses, it is necessary to formulate appropriate plans to use the opportunities and manage the challenges of this field.
