Abstract
Due to the benefits of holding sports events for destinations, much attention has been paid to the residents' perception of these events. Therefore, the current study aims to comprehensively investigate the positive effects of holding horse beauty contests in Ashkazar City of Yazd province, relying on residents' opinions. This study is applied research. The data collection method is a survey and uses the descriptive-analytical method. The statistical population of this research includes the residents of Ashkazar City. Using Convenience Sampling, Twenty-seven residents of Ashkazar City were asked to rate the importance and performance of 16 of the effects of holding horse beauty contests in this city using the available sampling. The results of the importance-performance analysis showed that The effects of holding an event, such as increasing private investment and creating business opportunities, as well as showcasing the city’s tourism attractions, have the highest average performance and importance, respectively. Also the effects of "strengthening and preserving the values and traditions of the local culture by holding the event" and "creating the opportunity for leisure and recreation for families by holding the event" are among the effects that the residents have little satisfaction with these features and performance in this field is not considered desirable. The effects of holding an event, such as “increasing job opportunities”, “creating economic benefits”, and “promoting solidarity and hospitality among residents”, are of significant importance and yield positive outcomes. Consequently, it is crucial to implement measures to sustain these effects.
