Abstract

The aim of this study was to design a model of moral courage in physical education teachers with an emphasis on enhancing ethical decision-making in the face of professional challenges. The research method was qualitative, using thematic analysis. The participants consisted of 18 physical education teachers. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews. The research validity was ensured through the use of a consensus method, which included two rounds of coding and interviews with experts in related fields. Based on the findings, the factors influencing moral courage in physical education teachers, with an emphasis on enhancing ethical decision-making in the face of professional challenges, included the driving force of moral courage, enhancers of moral courage, practical tools for moral courage, personal growth, the creation of shared and sustainable values, and commitment to values. The results of this study indicate that moral courage plays a crucial role in improving ethical decision-making in difficult professional situations. Therefore, it is recommended that educational programs aimed at enhancing moral courage and ethical decision-making in physical education teachers be designed and implemented. Furthermore, creating a supportive environment and promoting professional ethics in educational settings can help foster these factors. This study provides a foundation for future research on moral courage and ethical decision-making.
