Management and Policymaking of Physical Education Faculties and Departments and Directing Students' Job Expectations Postgraduate Students' Perspectives

Abstract

Management and policies governing on education in educational faculties and departments are among the
influencing factors in gaining ability and job preparation of graduated students. In addition, the students'
perspectives, as the goal population, are taken into consideration in shaping the job expectations.
Therefore, the purpose of the present study was to examine the role of management and policymaking of
physical education faculties and departments in directing the job expectations of students via analyzing
their postgraduate students' perspectives. The method of this study was descriptive-survey conducted
based on field study approach. The statistical population of the research consisted of all postgraduate
physical education students studying in 2011-2012. Applying Morgan Formula, 330 subjects have been
randomly selected among this population through cluster sampling. The research instrument consisted of
a researcher-made questionnaire that has been distributed among respondents after ensuring its validity
and reliability (α=0.84). Descriptive statistics and Univariate t-test have been utilized to analyze the
collected data. The results of the study showed that the respondents evaluated the role of governmental
policymaking in their job expectations and job satisfactions "high" and "moderate" to "high" respectively.
In addition, the findings showed that the role of theoretical training in their career future is between
"moderate" to "high", while the role of practical and skills training in their career future is "high". The
findings also indicated that the effects of social and cultural factors as well as economic and living factors
on students' job expectations were evaluated to be "moderate" to "high" and "high" respectively. It was
also demonstrated that the mean disparity of all research items with the hypothetical mean of three has
been meaningful (Pfaculties and departments is very important and vital. Regarding the findings of this study, the strategies
suggested by researchers to the curriculum planners and educational content suppliers in postgraduate
degree of physical education in respect to shifting the orientation of current educational systems from
training-based system towards research-based system, and research-based courses towards making skills
and entrepreneurship environments is according to the provided strategies.
